LUCKY STAR is an exploration and reflection on a young boy's family disintegrating and being put back together on one Christmas Eve in Glasgow 1988.
LUCKY STAR centres on Jonjo (8-years-old) as he tries to get his favourite toy for Christmas, a He-Man action figure. But Jonjo’s mother Annette has been waiting for nine months to get back into her flat and obtain divorce papers to remove her husband Sean from the flat because he has descended into alcoholism. LUCKY STAR focuses on the moment of crisis when a young women has to rebuild her family and go it alone.
RUSSELL DAVIDSON
Russell is an award winning writer and director from Glasgow. He graduated with an MFA in directing and a MA in screenwriting from Screen Academy Scotland, winning the Napier University Class medal in both classes and the Santander Award for Creative Media for his graduation film Meal Deal which premiered at Glasgow Short Film Festival and screened internationally.
After directing a series of short films Russell developed his personal style as director, including BFI Network / Creative Scotland commissioned short film Lucky Star and Starting Over an adaptation of an Ian Rankin short story and both films are currently on the festival circuit. Russell is also developing a slate of film and television projects.
