Elan Edelman Agency and the Novartis laboratories entrusted film directors Jack-Antoine Charlot and John Jones to direct their very short animation film The Boy Who Couldn’t See the Stars. The film follows the daily life of a boy suffering from Hereditary Retinal Dystrophy. The film lasts less than one minute and combines an effective pairing of narration and images to raise awareness for this rare disease.
An enthusiast of various animation genres - from 1950's cartoons to Manga. Jack describes himself as a ?design magpie? who finds inspiration in boundless styles and aesthetics. As talented as he is a versatile illustrator, Jack?s long-running and much-loved series of TV spots for Cofidis and Sosh continues to grow in popularity. He is, however, also adept at telling more sensitive and poignant stories, as can be seen in his beautiful films for the charities ?Collectif Urgence Darfour?, ?Born HIV Free?, and ?Novartis?. Great music enthusiast, Jack directed three video clips for the ever-mysterious artist S+C+A+R+R, which have been nominated for multiple festivals like the Berlin Music Video Awards, Annecy and Pictoplasma. He recently directed a game trailer for Garena?s new game "Free Fire Max" on which he collaborated with Valre Amirault to create a post-apocalyptic road trip shot like a rap music video.
Behind the pseudonym John Jones you will find Baptiste Humler, a young and budding director, illustrator and animator. Making a name for himself on the French animation scene, Baptiste has a knack for and loves creating astounding images, storytelling and is developing his own personal dynamic directorial style: 2D with strong poses and dramatic transitions.
He has paired up recently with Jack Antoine Charlot on several acclaimed projects such as the advertisement for Novartis "The Boy Who Couldn't See the Stars" and the cartoon sequences for the Netflix documentary about French rappers BigFlo and Oli.
